Born in Madrid and married to a Welshman, I hold a B.A. in Language and Education Theory from the Open University (UK), a Certificate in the Methodology of Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Aliseda Academy, Madrid, a Diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Language Studies International in Madrid, and am a Graduate in History and Literature from Complutense University, Madrid.
I live near Birmingham in the UK and am self-employed. I decided to train and work as a professional indexer after a long career teaching Spanish for Business Purposes in UK universities, which included the years 1995 to 2001 as Coordinator and teacher of the Spanish Language classes in the Department of Adult Education, University of Aberystwyth, 1995-2003 as Coordinator and teacher of the Spanish language classes of the undergraduate degree and Masters in translation in the Department of European Languages, University of Aberystwyth, and 2003 to 2012 as Teacher of Spanish language and Spanish-English translation in the Department of Modern Languages, Swansea University, UK. I have also worked as Translator of official correspondence for the Department of Validation of Qualifications of the University of Wales, UK.
I have also authored and co-authored text books for the teaching of the Spanish language. A SPANISH GRAMMAR WORKBOOK (Blackwell, 2002) was published in Europe and the United States. This book contains more than 500 grammar exercises, with a huge variety of communication activities. It is used in many universities in the United Kingdom and has received an excellent response from students. EN ACTIVO : PRACTICAL BUSINESS SPANISH (Routledge, 2008) was co-written with Dr. Helen Jones. This text book specialises in the teaching of Spanish for business purposes. It includes audio and online exercises and is widely used for the teaching of Spanish for business purposes for schools, universities and professionals.
I also work in collaboration with MONKEYPROOF - for all your copy-editing, proofreading and indexing needs, wants and wishes.
